Linstead, St. Catherine (October 6, 2025) – The community of Commadore in Linstead, St. Catherine, is in shock and mourning this morning following a horrific gun attack last night that claimed the lives of five people and left four others hospitalized.

The brazen act of violence has sent shockwaves across the nation, compounding concerns over the escalating issue of domestic gang warfare and violent crime in Jamaica.

The Details of the Attack

The tragedy unfolded on Sunday night, October 5, 2025, around 8:45 PM.

According to preliminary reports from the police, multiple gunmen descended upon a residential yard in Commadore and immediately opened fire on the occupants. The victims were caught in the sudden and relentless assault, which resulted in instant fatalities and serious injuries.

The five deceased victims include three males and two females. In a particularly heartbreaking detail, one of the victims is confirmed to be a four-year-old child. Four other individuals sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Their conditions are being monitored closely.

The Alarming Detail: Gunmen in Police Vests

A critical and highly disturbing element of the report is the assertion that some of the assailants were dressed in police vests.

This suggests a calculated attempt to impersonate law enforcement officers, a tactic that can mislead victims, confuse witnesses, and seriously undermine public trust in the security forces. The police high command is reportedly focused on this detail as they work to track down the perpetrators.

Investigation Underway; Identities Pending Release

As of Monday morning, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is actively processing the scene and conducting initial inquiries. The matter is also being followed by local investigative bodies.

Due to the required protocol of notifying all next-of-kin, the identities of the deceased have not yet been officially released to the public. We will provide an update as soon as the names are formally confirmed by the JCF.
